ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – Mr. Kh. Altai, Acting Director of the PPP Center SOE, met with Mr. J. Shamsiev, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Resident Office in Mongolia, on 16 June 2026 to discuss opportunities for future cooperation.
At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Altai provided an overview of Mongolia’s legal and regulatory framework for public-private partnerships (PPPs), as well as the activities of the PPP Center and a number of projects currently under assessment for potential implementation through PPP arrangements.
Mr. Shamsiev noted that the EBRD has extensive experience working with private sector organizations in Mongolia and highlighted the Bank’s long-standing engagement in supporting private sector development. The parties exchanged views on potential projects that could be pursued within the framework of public-private partnerships.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their interest in expanding cooperation and agreed to maintain close dialogue on opportunities to support the development and implementation of PPP projects in Mongolia.
The parties also discussed the importance of identifying projects that could serve as examples of good practice and contribute to the further development of public-private partnerships in the country.
